What is self-publishing?
Self-publishing allows the author to take control of the entire process. The author invests time and money to publish their own book.
In traditional publishing, a publishing house accepts a manuscript and pays the author an “advance” on book royalties. The publishing house also pays the author royalties once the book’s profits have paid off the advance.
Why self-publish?
Self-publishing allows the author to be in complete control of every step of the process. This includes the manuscript, formatting, approving all illustrations or stock photos, and print-on-demand resources.
Print-on-demand allows the author to order copies when needed which is more cost-effective. A self-published author keeps 100% of the royalties.
It is the responsibility of the author to market the book. Social media, blogs, and websites, and other digital marketing avenues have also made it easier than ever for self-published authors to market their books and interact with readers.

How do I get started with self-publishing?
To get started, all you need is:

Your deposit
A desire to finally bring your book to life!
When you're ready, we're ready! Use the forms on this site to book a discovery call or request a quote.
During the process, you will be involved and approve every step so the book will be just as you want by the end of the process.
Do you have payment plans?
Yes, we require a 50% deposit in order for work to begin on your book.

Who will own the rights to my book?
You! Working with us means that, unlike some other companies, you will retain all rights to your book, including your illustrations (for children's book packages), interior files, and cover design. Upon completion of the job, you will receive a folder with all of the book files used for your project.
How much control will I have over the process?
At Mind Shape Up Solutions, the author retains the copyright of the book as well as being known as the publisher for the book.
The author does take the responsibility for sending in the copyright and purchasing the ISBN numbers. This is not the responsibility of Sparkle Creatives Publishing due to the confidentiality of the process.
What editing services does Mind Shape Up Solutions offer?
Mind Shape Up Solutions does not offer editing services. Once the manuscript has been professionally edited, we can begin our work with you.
Will my book be sold on Amazon?
Yes, once your files are completed, you will receive directions to send your book files to Amazon. For an upcharge, we will submit the files for you.
How many copies of my book will be printed?
Mind Shape Up Solutions does not print or offer print-on-demand services.
After your book is complete and the final version is uploaded, you can choose how many books to order through KDP, Ingram Spark, or another print-on-demand service, or other printers. Books are shipped directly to you. Authors can order any number of books they desire.
Do I need an ISBN?
ISBNs are required if you want your book to be available for online retailers, bookstores, and libraries. Mind Shape Up Solutions suggests you purchase your own ISBN so that you own all of your work, and the book can be available for retailers such as Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com.
If you do not intend to sell your book and only plan to print copies to donate or give to family and friends, you may not need an ISBN.
